The One Thing That's Needful

Dec 31, 2020

Thank you for joining us here on The One Thing That's Needful podcast, where Dr. Siohvaughn Funches expounds on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the New Covenant of grace that He has placed every believer in, helping believers understand that in the New Covenant, Christ has done it all and there remains one thing for a believer to do in order to receive it: only believe.

Since the Word of God promises that the faith to believe comes by hearing and hearing the Word of Christ, today, you will do just that and you will believe. And as a result, you will inherit every promise God made you and fulfill the destiny Jesus gave you.

KEY BIBLE VERSES

[4:16] John 1:17, NASB 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

[7:29] Exodus 20 (the Ten Commandments; the Old Covenant).

[9:47] Hebrews 8:10-13, NKJV 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. 13 In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

[13:11] Romans 5:20, NKJV 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

[13:21] Romans 6:14, NKJV 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

[14:17] Galatians 3:10, NKJV 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

[16:55] Galatians 3:13, NKJV 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

[20:00] 2 Corinthians 3:7-11, NKJV 7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

[22:16] 2 Corinthians 3:4-6, NKJV 4 And we have such trust through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

[23:59] Exodus 19:11-12, NKJV 11 And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people. 12 You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.’

[25:42] 1 Corinthians 6:19, NKJV 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

[25:54] Galatians 2:20, NKJV 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

[26:43] Galatians 3:11, NKJV 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”

[27:01] Romans 8:33, NKJV 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

[27:28] Romans 3:28, NKJV 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

[27:38] Romans 4:5, NKJV 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

[27:55] Romans 4:6, NKJV 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:

[28:06] Romans 5:1, NKJV 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
