The One Thing That's Needful

Nov 21, 2019

In today’s episode, Dr. Siohvaughn Funches continues the series, “Favor on the Way.” Dr. Funches invites you to see in this series that God favors you every day while you’re on the way to your promised land.

Dr. Funches recaps the message from last week that everyone faces storms in life. Jesus has overcome the world and tells us to have good cheer. God doesn’t cause the storms. Jesus rebuked the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Visibility becomes almost nothing in a storm. We walk by faith and not by sight. God is there; God’s goodness is there; God’s love is there. The enemy tries to block our vision with clouds, darkness, and raging storms so that we don’t see. With eyes of faith, you can see right through the storm.

Dr. Funches reviews when God opened the eyes of the servant of Elisha to see the forces of God were more than the forces against them. Dr. Funches reminds the listener of the Book of Ruth when God blessed Ruth and Naomi through their personal storms along the way to receive greater blessings.

Today’s message starts in the Book of Esther, looking at the lives of Esther and her relative Mordecai, to see into the heart of God and learn more about Jesus. Esther was orphaned and Mordecai took her in as his daughter. Dr. Funches summarizes the events in the Book of Esther concerning how Esther, as a virgin, was brought before King Ahasuerus as a potential bride for him. Esther and Mordecai trusted in God and God favored them along the way. Dr. Funches will continue in the Book of Esther in the message, next week.

Listen in to hear how God favors the New Covenant believer on the way to receive.
